TEACHING: SPRING SEMESTER, 2021

MA 380: INTRODUCTION TO COMPLEX DYNAMICS

  • Announcements on special measures related to COVID-19 concerning the planning of lectures/tutorials

Lectures will be conducted online. The mode of online teaching (whether online real-time or via pre-recorded downloadable videos, etc.) is to be decided.

The first "lecture" will be on March 2 and will be at 11:30 a.m. This will be an organisational meeting (students from IISc are referred to my e-mail on the reasons for the late start).

This meeting will be online, in real-time on MS Teams. It will enable us to determine the modalities of online teaching for the remainder of the semester. For those who, due to internet-access issues, are unable to stay online without interruptions: a recording of this (and every subsequent lecture) will be available for you to download and view offline.

The link to the above-mentioned meeting will be available from this page (to access it, you must be logged into your IISc Microsoft Outlook account in a separate tab in the same browser). Students not from IISc should e-mail me to receive the link to the March 2 meeting.

  • Lecture hours

    Tuesdays and Thursdays 11:30 a.m.–1:00 p.m.

A.F. Beardon, Iteration of Rational Functions: Complex Analytic Dynamical Systems, Graduate Texts in Mathematics no. 132, Springer-Verlag, 1991

  • Documents

Day 1 lecture slides: Course policies and rudiments of dynamical systems

  • Announcements

May 12: The end-semester exam for MA380 is scheduled for the morning of June 10. Please stay tuned for further news (via e-mail) about the examination time and protocols.

Apr. 8: There will be no lectures in the coming week (i.e., April 12–16), since it is the mid-semester examination week at the Department of Mathematics.
